We’re thrilled to be collaborating with the Arctic Submarine Lab on an exciting project. Our team is hard at work designing and producing specialized bags, kits, shelters, and equipment covers that can handle the extreme conditions of the Arctic ice sheet.
The Arctic Submarine Lab’s mission is crucial: “ASL is dedicated to developing and maintaining expertise in Arctic-specific skills, knowledge, equipment, and procedures, enabling the submarine force to operate safely and effectively in the unique Arctic Ocean environment.”
This project has presented exhilarating challenges, particularly in designing for temperatures as low as 50 degrees below zero. We’re rigorously testing materials for strength and ensuring our gear is both durable and lightweight, so it can be efficiently transported by small planes and helicopters to remote ice locations.
Our bags are equipped with foam insulation and plastic inserts for impact protection. Each bag is custom labeled with a description and quantity of its contents, ensuring that no essential equipment is left behind. The soft, flexible exterior of the bags allows them to be packed tightly into storage compartments without sliding around, unlike hard cases, making them easier to transport and less prone to damage in extreme cold.
